March 9, 2014 -- Another beautiful day and perfect for walking. This time we were in the Western part of Switzerland, at Lake Biel. First we checked out the quaint town of Erlach, and then walked about 11 km along the East side of the lake to Hagneck, before heading back home with the train. We had originally planned to walk further, but having started late (at 2 p.m.) and because I find walking parallel to a lake-shore quite tiring, we cut it "short" (almost three hours of pure walking time was enough).
The church in the main part of Erlach. We started from the bus stop near here at about 2 p.m.
Those stairs aren't very straight any more! |

Looking across Lake Biel from the Castle. The snow-covered mountains at the back are the Jura range near the border with France. |

This is the first time I have seen orchards with net roofs like my Dad has in Canada |
